For those born in the gaṇḍānta of Jyeṣṭhā, who are destroyers of themselves, of the father and of others, one should perform the propitiatory rite that quells the calamity exactly as the Mūla-śānti is performed.

शक्त्यभावे गवां दान-माहिमूलमघेन्द्रजे । गण्डान्ते, तु गवां दानं पूषाश्विजनिते सति ॥ ६ ॥
When there is no capacity (for the full rite), the gift of cows is prescribed for the gaṇḍānta arising from Āśleṣā (the serpent's asterism), Mūla, Maghā and Jyeṣṭhā (Indra's asterism); and likewise the gift of cows when the gaṇḍānta is produced by Revatī (Pūṣan's asterism) and Aśvinī.

In any other inauspicious combination one should give a single cow, respectfully, to a brāhmaṇa; or else, in the particular case where no cow is to be had, its value should be given.

Śloka 8 — Jyeṣṭhā-born girl destroys husband's elder brother; last-pāda-of-Viśākhā girl destroys the younger brother-in-law
