The complete Chapter on the Results of the Twelfth (Vyaya) Bhāva chapter of the Bṛhat-Pārāśara-Horāśāstra — all 11 verses, each in the original Sanskrit with VedicSpace's clean-room English translation, cited by śloka. Translated from the Chaukhamba (Devachandra Jha) edition and audited against the printed plates.

Śloka 1-2 — Opening address to Maitreya; the 12th lord well-placed → auspicious (meritorious) expenditure

Now, O Maitreya, I shall declare to you the results arising from the vyaya-bhāva (12th). When the lord of the vyaya, being placed in its own rāśi (svakṣetra) or in its ucca, is joined with or aspected by benefics; or again, when it stands in the vyaya itself and is joined with or aspected by benefics — the expenditure is auspicious (i.e. spent on meritorious ends). (And if) the Moon is the lord of the vyaya and is situated in the dharma (9th), lābha (11th) or mantra (5th) bhāvas —

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 1-2

Śloka 3-4 — Moon as 12th lord in 9/11/5 and dignified in rāśi or aṃśa → luxury, priceless wealth

— (that Moon being) in its own ucca, in its own rāśi, or in its own aṃśa, or in the aṃśa of the lābha (11th), dharma (9th) or ātmaja (5th): the native possesses divine mansions, couches and the like, and enjoys choicest perfumes; sporting amid immeasurable (parārdha) abundance, adorned with divine garments, garlands and other ornaments, and endowed with wealth beyond price, he passes his days as a lord.

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 3-4

Śloka 5-6 — 12th lord in enemy/nīca aṃśa or in 6th/8th → loss of wife's happiness and ruinous expense; but in kendra/koṇa → conjugal happiness

Conversely, when (the lord of the vyaya) is situated in the sign or aṃśa of its own enemy, in a nīca (debilitation) aṃśa, in the eighth aṃśa, or in the eighth or the sixth bhāva, it makes the native bereft of the happiness of a wife, worn out by excess of expenditure, and denied fine enjoyments. But that same (lord), when placed in a kendra or a koṇa, makes him himself graced with his own wife.

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 5-6

Śloka 7 — Method: extend lagna-based delineation to all other bhāvas

Just as the results for the native have been declared by the great ṛṣis reckoned from the lagna, so, from the bhāva of brothers (3rd) and the rest (taken each as an ascendant), all those several matters should be examined.

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 7

Śloka 8 — Grahas in the visible vs. invisible half of the chart → manifest vs. hidden results

Grahas standing in the visible and in the invisible half of the circle give their results respectively in a manifest (directly perceptible) and in an unseen (indirect) manner; this should always be known by one who is learned.

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 8

Śloka 9 — Rāhu with Mars and Sun in the 12th, 12th lord with the Sun → fall into hell

When Rāhu, placed in the vyaya-sthāna (12th), is joined by Mars and the Sun, and the lord of that (12th) is likewise joined with the Sun, there results a fall into hell.

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 9

Śloka 10 — Benefic in the 12th with exalted, benefic-joined and benefic-aspected 12th lord → mokṣa

When a benefic occupies the vyaya-sthāna, and the lord of that (12th) is in its own ucca rāśi, joined with benefics and aspected by benefics, there is liberation (mukti) — herein there is no doubt.

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 10

Śloka 11 — Malefic-afflicted 12th / 12th lord → wandering from land to land

When the lord of the vyaya is joined with a malefic, or the vyaya itself is so joined, and it is aspected by a malefic graha, (the native) goes from his own land to other lands.

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 11

Śloka 12 — Benefic-supported 12th / 12th lord → travel stays within one's own country

When the lord of the vyaya is in a benefic sign, and the sign of the vyaya is joined by benefics and aspected by a benefic graha, his moving about is (only) within his own country.

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 12

Śloka 13 — Saturn/Mars in the 12th without benefic aspect → wealth earned by sinful means

When the vyaya is joined by Saturn and the rest (of the malefics) and is occupied by Mars, and there is no obtaining of a benefic aspect, the earning of wealth comes from sinful sources.

BPHS Adhyāya 24, śloka 13

Śloka 14 — Lagna lord–12th lord exchange with Venus → expenditure on dharmic causes

When the lord of the lagna is placed in the sign of the vyaya, and the lord of the vyaya is joined to the lagna, and is (further) joined with the son of Bhṛgu (Venus), the expenditure of wealth arises from dharmic causes.
