The complete Chapter on the Results of the Daśās of the Bhāva-Lords chapter of the Bṛhat-Pārāśara-Horāśāstra — all 18 verses, each in the original Sanskrit with VedicSpace's clean-room English translation, cited by śloka. Translated from the Chaukhamba (Devachandra Jha) edition and audited against the printed plates.

Śloka 1 — Introduction — transition from bhāva-placement results to bhāva-lord daśā results

Parāśara said: In accordance with the placement in the bhāvas the results have been declared by the good (i.e. by the wise seers). Now, O Muni (Maitreya), I shall state the results arising from the relationship of the bhāva-lords.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 1

Śloka 2 — Daśā of the lagna-lord and of the 2nd lord

In the daśā of the lagna-lord there is comfort in the body and good fame. But in the daśā of the lord of wealth (the 2nd lord) there is hardship and also fear of death.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 2

Śloka 3 — Daśā of the 3rd lord and of the 4th lord

In the daśā of the 3rd lord the result for the native is inauspicious. In the daśā of the 4th lord there is happiness arising from house and land.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 3

Śloka 4 — Daśā of the 5th lord and of the 6th lord

In the daśā of the 5th lord there is great happiness from learning and from sons. During the daśā of the 6th lord there is fear from enemies and disease in the body.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 4

Śloka 5 — Daśā of the 7th lord and of the 8th lord

At the time of the daśā of the lord of the wife (the 7th lord) there is affliction to the wife and fear of death. During the daśā of the lord of the randhra (the 8th lord) there is loss of wealth and fear of death.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 5

Śloka 6 — Daśā of the 9th lord and of the 10th lord

At the time of the daśā of the lord of fortune (the 9th lord) there is accumulation of fame, dharma and wealth. But in the daśā of the lord of karma (the 10th lord) there arises honour from the king.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 6

Śloka 7 — Daśā of the 11th lord and of the 12th lord

At the time of the daśā of the lord of gains (the 11th lord) there is gain, obstacle, and also fear of disease. During the daśā of the lord of the riḥpha (the 12th lord) hardship of many kinds occurs.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 7

Śloka 8 — Modifier — the daśā-lord's placement at the commencement of the daśā

For a graha situated in an auspicious bhāva, the result at the commencement of the daśā is auspicious. But even for a benefic, if it is situated in an inauspicious sthāna, the result it gives is inauspicious.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 8

Śloka 9 — Daśā of the 10th lord joined with the 5th or 9th lord

The daśā of the lord of karma (the 10th lord), when it is joined with the lord of sons (the 5th lord) or joined with the lord of fortune (the 9th lord), is held by the learned to be giver of auspicious results.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 9

Śloka 10 — Daśā of a graha joined with the 5th lord / with the 9th lord

The daśā of a graha that is joined with the 5th lord gives auspicious results; and the daśā of one joined with the lord of dharma (the 9th lord) is supremely excellent.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 10

Śloka 11 — Daśā of the 9th lord with the 4th lord; daśā of the 10th lord in the 5th

The daśā of the lord of dharma (the 9th lord) when it is accompanied by the lord of happiness (the 4th lord) is auspicious. The daśā of the lord of honour (the 10th lord) when it is placed in the fifth sthāna is likewise auspicious.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 11

Śloka 12 — Mutual exchange of kendra and koṇa lords

If the lords of the kendras and trikoṇas are placed respectively in the koṇas and kendras, then their daśās should always be known by the wise as giving exceedingly auspicious results.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 12

Śloka 13 — Daśās of the 6th, 8th and 12th lords joined with a koṇa lord

If the lords of the sixth, the eighth and the vyaya (twelfth) are joined with a lord of a koṇa, then their daśās too have been declared by the knowers of horā to be givers of auspicious results.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 13

Śloka 14 — Grahas conjoined with or aspected by exchanged kendra/koṇa lords

If the lord of a koṇa is placed in a kendra and the lord of a kendra is placed in a koṇa, then the daśā of a graha that is joined with or aspected by them gives auspicious results.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 14

Śloka 15 — Exchange between lagna-lord and 9th lord

If the lord of the tanu (lagna) is placed in the bhāgya (9th) bhāva, or the lord of the 9th is placed in the tanu bhāva, then during the daśās of those two there arises for men a rise of dharma and of happiness.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 15

Śloka 16 — Exchange between lagna-lord and 10th lord — attainment of kingdom

If the 10th lord is placed in the tanu (lagna) and the lagna-lord is placed in the karma (10th) bhāva, then during the daśās of those two there is attainment of kingdom — there is no doubt in this.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 16

Śloka 17 — Even benefics in 3rd, 6th, 11th or joined with those lords

Of grahas that have gone to the third, sixth or eleventh, or that are joined with the lords of those (bhāvas) — even of the benefic (good) sky-goers — the daśā is held to give inauspicious results.

BPHS Adhyāya 49, śloka 17

Śloka 18 — Grahas in 2nd/7th, joined with māraka lords, or in the 8th

Of those grahas gone to the bhāva of wealth (2nd) or to the dyūna (7th), of those conjoined with the lords that are mārakas, and of those situated in the bhāva of death (8th) — the daśā too is remembered as giving inauspicious results.
