Śloka 1 — Rāśi-piṇḍa and graha-piṇḍa: multiply the reduced bindu figure by the rāśi multiplier, and again by the graha multiplier when a graha occupies that rāśi

इत्थं शोधितमङ्कं तु राशिमानेन वर्धयेत् । ग्रहयुक्तेऽपि तद्राशौ ग्रहमानेन वर्धयेत् ॥ १ ॥

The figure thus purified (after trikoṇa- and ekādhipatya-śodhana) should be increased (i.e. multiplied) by the rāśi-measure; and if that rāśi is occupied by a graha, it should [likewise] be increased by the graha-measure.

Śloka 2 — Definition of piṇḍa; rāśi multipliers for Taurus, Leo, Gemini, Scorpio

वर्द्धिताङ्कयुतिर्विज्ञैः पिण्डनाम्नाऽभिधीयते । गोसिंहौ खेन्दुभिर्गुण्यौ युग्माली वसुभिस्तथा ॥ २ ॥

The sum of the multiplied figures is designated by the wise with the name piṇḍa. Go (Taurus) and Siṃha (Leo) are to be multiplied by ten; likewise Yugma (Gemini) and Ali (Scorpio) by eight.

Śloka 3 — Rāśi multipliers for Libra, Aries, Capricorn, Virgo; remaining rāśis take their own ordinal number

वणिग्मेषौ तु मुनिभिः शरैश्च मकराङ्गने । स्वस्वसंख्याभिरितरे गुणका अथ खेटजाः ॥ ३ ॥

Vaṇij (Libra) and Meṣa (Aries), however, [are to be multiplied] by seven, and Makara (Capricorn) and Aṅganā (Virgo) by five; the remaining ones by their own respective numbers. Now the multipliers arising from the grahas [are stated].

Śloka 4 — Graha multipliers: Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury, and all remaining grahas

जीवारशुक्रसौम्यानां दिग्गजाद्रिशराः क्रमात् । वाणास्तथान्यखेटानां विबुधैः समुदीरिताः ॥ ४ ॥

For Jīva (Jupiter), Āra (Mars), Śukra (Venus) and Saumya (Mercury), [the multipliers are] ten, eight, seven and five respectively; and five likewise for the other grahas — so have they been declared by the learned.
