Swiss Ephemeris, Lahiri ayanamsa, whole-sign houses — and a classical citation behind every rule. Where the texts are silent, so are we.
Planetary positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris (pyswisseph), sidereal on the Lahiri / Chitrapaksha ayanamsa (the live value is printed on chart pages). Houses are whole-sign. Panchang is computed for each city's own coordinates and sunrise — never copied from a master table.
Where a verdict has a classical source, it carries it: Surya Siddhanta (tithi = Moon−Sun / 12°, nakshatra = Moon / 13°20′),
Muhurta Chintamani (muhurtas, Choghadiya, day-quality), Prasna Marga (Varjyam / Amrit ghati),
Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and Phaladeepika (chart readings). In API responses these appear as
machine-readable prove_refs — source, tier, and formula — on every payload.
And where it does not, we say so. Durmuhurta is the clearest case: we compute it by the standard weekday convention every panchang uses, but there is no verse for it in our library, so it is not cited to one. This page used to list Durmuhurta under Muhurta Chintamani while every panchang page said the opposite in its own footer — the panchang pages were right. A source we cannot show is a source we do not claim.
• Strength is stated in bands (favourable / mixed / cautioned) — never invented percentages.
• Where the classics are silent, we are silent — no fabricated answers.
• A dosha is always weighed with its cancellations (bhanga) — never used to frighten.
• We refuse all sex-selection questions (PCPNDT).
• No ads, no trackers; the daily panchang is free and ungated.
