Pañcaka-rahitaIs this day inside the pañcaka? पञ्चक
Pañcaka is a window of five nakṣatras — Dhaniṣṭhā’s latter half through Revatī — during which the texts forbid a specific short list of works. Not a general bad omen, and not five days counted from anywhere else. Pick a date and see the answer with the verses it rests on.

The window, and where it comes from
Dhaniṣṭhā (latter half) → Śatabhiṣā → Pūrva Bhādrapadā → Uttara Bhādrapadā → Revatī
Five nakṣatras ending at Revatī — not five counted forward from Śatabhiṣā. Aśvinī, which follows Revatī, is never pañcaka: it is where the window closes. Muhūrta Cintāmaṇi gives the rule three times, each beginning at Dhaniṣṭhā’s latter half, and the first half of Dhaniṣṭhā is explicitly outside it.
